Jaipur and Udaipur are three hundred kilometres and two entirely different moods apart. Jaipur is forts, bazaars and scale; Udaipur is water, courtyards and quiet. Four nights gives both room to breathe.
Amber Fort is visited at opening time — 08:00 — which avoids both the queue and the worst of the sun. The City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal fill the second day, with the Johri and Bapu bazaars in the evening.
In Udaipur the plan is deliberately thin: the City Palace, a sunset boat on Lake Pichola, Saheliyon ki Bari, and a lot of sitting on rooftops. The Ranakpur Jain temple can be added on the transfer day for anyone interested.
Every day of the trip, with the hotel, the meals and the sightseeing written out. Nothing here is hidden behind a login.
Airport or station pick-up and check-in. Late-afternoon drive past Hawa Mahal and Jal Mahal, then the Johri and Bapu bazaars. Dinner at a rooftop overlooking the old city.
08:00 at Amber Fort for the Sheesh Mahal and the Ganesh Pol before the coaches arrive. Panna Meena ka Kund and Jaigarh on the way down. Afternoon at the City Palace and Jantar Mantar, then Nahargarh for sunset.
An early start for the six-hour drive south. Optional stop at the Ranakpur Jain temple and its 1,444 carved pillars, which adds around two hours. Arrive Udaipur in the evening.
Morning at the City Palace and the Crystal Gallery, then Jagdish temple. Afternoon at Saheliyon ki Bari and the vintage car museum. At 17:00, the Pichola boat past Jag Mandir. Evening puppet show and dinner at Bagore ki Haveli.
Breakfast and checkout, with a transfer to Maharana Pratap airport — about forty minutes. Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace can be fitted in for later flights.

A private AC vehicle and one driver throughout, including the 400 km Jaipur–Udaipur leg. City sightseeing is door-to-door; the old-city bazaars are walked.

We were through the Sheesh Mahal before the first coach party arrived. By ten it was unrecognisable. Udaipur was deliberately quiet which after Jaipur is exactly what you want. The Ranakpur stop adds two hours to a long day — take it anyway.
